Self-described as an “accidental brass quartet,” The Westerlies began as childhood friends (and sometimes musical rivals) from Seattle who reconnected in New York. They’ve recently been seen on NPR’s Tiny Desk series, and All About Jazz describes their music as “trans-genre new instrumental music…that overlaps with some contemporary genres, but they don’t surf the same cultural wave.” This week, Riley Mulherkar brings us along for The Westerlies’s annual holiday bash.
